Mochatto, Penang

Recently, burgers has been the hot eatery topic in Penang. Wherever you go around in Penang or mouth-to-mouth advertisement, you will find lots of cafe specialized in selling homemade burger patty. Well, Mochatto Cafe, is one of the cafe following the current trend. Mochatto Cafe serves homemade patty burger, dressed it with variety of different sauces chosen and finally serves it hot to the customer.

Review

Environment - 8/10
Air-conditioned cafe and ample of tables for you to dine-in
Food - 5/10
Burger patty is not so juicy as expected and it is rough inside and you can feel the minced meat in the patty. On sauce side, no special homemade sauce. All sauces are common like mustard, ketchup and etc.
Service - 7/10
Above average. Except that it's a bit slow when waiting for the burger to be served although is not full with customers
Price - 7/10
One full set (burgers + snacks + drink) at about RM10.90.
Location - 8/10
Easily located and ample parking space

Mochatto Cafe

There will be a mini bar where all the drinks will be prepared there. This cafe is based on order and pay at the counter, then, food will be served to your table.

Here comes the refreshing drinks while waiting for our main course. Lychee flavour suits me more - taste like original sweet lychee. Hawaiian is far too sour to me. And, yes, I mean it - real sour.
Ice Blended Lychee and Hawaiian

A set of Mochatto Piglet Burger is served along with nicely fried french fries. You will find a slice of bacon, cheese, vegetables accompany along the piglet burger patty. Although, the patty is a little dry, but it doesn't taste too bad overall.
Mochatto Piglet Burger

Mochatto Chicken Burger is almost the same as Piglet Burger. Instead of pork, it is chicken. Although, the patty is different, but, the patty is still a little dry. You will still find a slice of bacon, vegetables and cheese stuffed between the chicken patty.

Red Garden, Penang

Located near at the one of the most happening place in Penang, Upper Penang Road, where lots of pubs & bistros will be there down the road. Red Garden is one of the famous food court you could find there - Korean, Western, Asian, Thai & even Indian cuisine will be there too. What made the food court so famous in Penang, because eatery like us, will be entertained with songs performed on stage where you can't find it in most food court in Penang.

Review:

Environment - 6/10
Personally doesn't like much on the environment there. Too noisy for you to hang out there or even eat, unless you are there to enjoy the stage song there
Food5/10
Just average except for few stall highlighted in the below post. Prefer outside food stall in Penang
Service 6/10
Most of the stalls can provide above average service, but, except one stall - fried rice stall.
Showing bad attitude when we reminded her after a long time.
Price - 6/10
Expensive for a common food outside. A herbal drink costs RM2.00 per glass where you can find it RM1.00 outside. Hokkien Mee (Prawn Mee) costs around RM5.00 where you can find it about RM3.50.
Location - 6/10
Easily located with ample parking space but the parking is very expensive. Unfortunately, I can't remember the rate, but will try to avoid parking there if going again to this food court.
If not mistaken about RM2.50 per hour after 5pm.

Welcome to Red Garden Food Court
Hawker Stalls

We reached the food court very early, around 6.00pm - no surprise to see only us in the food court because they just open the food court. Usually this food court will be packed by visitors by 8.00pm and by late night, there will be stage singers. I would suggest this place best recommended for tourist because you can easily find lots of local food there too.
Mini Stage to Perform Some Songs

Most expensive drinks ever had so far in Penang food court. RM2.00 for just a herbal drink where you can easily get it about RM1.00 outside. Next time I would prefer to order fresh fruit juice which costs only RM3.00. Although slightly more expensive, but at least you can taste the real fruit juice.
Drinks

I like this Fried Bee Tai Bak. Not too oily and comes along with egg & fresh prawns. Acceptable with a price of RM5.00 per plate for a fried food.

Fried Bee Tai Bak

Fried Maggie

Say 'No' to this. No taste of prawn soup and it costs around RM5.00 for this bowl. Also, default size when you place your order without requesting 'small' will be 'big'.
Hokkien Mee (Prawn Mee)

Good food by Filipino Hawker stall. Juicy pork goes along well with sweet, a little spicy sauce and accompanied by spaghetti. Reasonable portion with reasonable price.
Spaghetti with Pork by Filipino Cuisine

Thai Kerabu Fried Rice

Grill Stingray Fish

Although I didn't order this, but, this is a must or default choice for a friend of mine who dine in Red Garden Food Court. Food by Western Corner, Grill Fish with Cheese is a must for a western food lover. Thumb up and reasonable price at about RM12.90 per plate with mushroom soup.
Grill Fish with Cheese

Mushroom Soup (A set with Grill Fish with Cheese)

For Thai food lover especially those who loves pork leg rice, I guess this is not the right choice that you guys should go for. Pork leg is too dry with very little gravy around especially when the pork itself is not juicy and succulent enough. Only taste average.

Moustache Houze, Campbell Street

Located at one of the roads that surrounded by heritage buildings, Campbell Street, you will see this newly opened cafe, Moustache Cafe. This cafe is now catching the heart of Penangnites's interest to patronize this cafe for a place for coffee and chit chat.

Review:

Environment - 10/10
Plenty of tables - they even have few private rooms but with minimum spending of
RM80.00 - pretty good especially for a bunch of friends
Drink - 7/10
No food. Only cakes and drinks. Average on coffee - nice but just common
Service - 9/10
Price - 7/10
Average price - A cup of Mocha at about RM11.90
Location - 8/10
Easily located at the end of the road of Campbell Street and you will find ample parking   space because all the neighboring shops will be closed by evening

Moustache Houze

They are still hiring. Get them contacted if you want to be part of them!

Stepping in to the Moustache Houze, you will see the whole long pathway of cafe at a glance. At this moment, your mind will only be "which corner should I snap first?". Simple renovation for a simple cafe for you to hang out with your friends.

Just beside the entrance, on your left, you will see a mural painting with a sense of touched feeling that bring you back to the olden days, of childhood time.

Wooden Hanging Bench & Creative Book Racks using Pipe

Up in the second floor is where you will see few private rooms specially for group of friends but with the minimum spending of RM80.00. Each room is painted with creativesarts with the theme of moustache.

Moustache Tree (painted in one of the room)

Here comes the cake's section. You will only find cakes in this cafe. No spaghetti, no waffle, but only cakes for food. Be sure to feed yourself some food before coming in to this cafe.

Carrot Cake, Mille Crepe Cake & many more

The signature drink for this cafe is flavored ice cube drink. Unlike our normal ice cube where it is just purely plain water and get it frozen to become ice cube. But, these ice cube comes with different variety of flavors like kiwi, chocolate and even espresso.

Espresso Ice Cube

Espresso Ice Cube (Mixed)

You still have a choice if you are not a coffee or chocolate lover. You can still find some fresh fruit juice over here.
Carrot Milk

Ice Cappucino

That's my favorite Ice Cube Chocolate. Taste differently compared to Coffee Bean / Starbucks. Not to say their chocolate is not nice, but this gives a unique taste. Milk is not too thick, also, is not too sweet too. Unfortunately, the chocolate taste is not so thick. I wish they will increase the chocolate flavor to be a little stronger and that shall make the tricks.

Freshly brew Kenya AA Coffee. Strong coffee aromatic smell. Specially recommended only to coffee lovers.

Flavour Square Restaurant, Rangoon Road

Description: Keep wondering why there is nobody dine in, in this Chinese restaurant on Saturday night. That is really too bad for that. It seems like we reserved the whole restaurant itself on Saturday, around 8.00pm for dinner. In overall, this Chinese restaurant is doing average, in terms of food & service, but price was quite reasonable - not so bad after all until nobody is dining in on Saturday night. This restaurant is serving various types of Chinese cuisine - more on round table for the Chinese dinner - dish types include roasted duck, suckling pig, chicken, fish, prawns and even shark fins. Average in short.

Review:
Environment - 7/10 (Not cooling enough, although I am in an air-conditioned restaurant)
Food - 7/10 (Average, not too bad)
Service - 6/10 (The waitress kind off doesn't know what her restaurant's famous dishes are, had no idea what to recommend)
Price - 7/10 (A plate of Fried Cereal Prawn for only RM25 - satisfy 5 people, total bill for RM130 for 5 people, quite satisfying)
Location - 7/10 (Lack of parking if this place if pack of people)

Restaurant Flavour Square from the outside

A snap through the whole restaurant

Simple menu with simple description on each of the dishes. Don't expect too much varieties of seafood except common type like prawns and fish.
Flavour Square Menu

For many people like me, I will only drink Chinese tea when I am eating dim sum (Chinese breakfast http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dim_sum). Maybe I am not into Chinese tea, but, elderly Chinese always, love Chinese tea to go along with their dinner - especially dining in a Chinese restaurant dinner. Maybe the tea aroma helps increasing the appetite of diners, adding some relaxation to them while improving digestion for heavy food consumed.

Chinese Tea

I am not a favour of Char Koay Teow, Hor Fun but, surprisingly, this Fried Hor Fun tastes not bad. Not too oily, not too salty and definitely smell just right for individuals.
Fried Hor Fun (Dry)

On the other hand, Oyster Noodles was one of my favourite noodle, however, the taste was just OK - average. Oysters too small and too little for a plate of Oyster Noodles.
Oyster Noodles

Although the appearance of this dish is not attractive, but, it taste quite well too. If you love black vinegar cook together with pork, you should order this if you come across this restaurant.
Braised Pork in Claypot

Fried Prawns with Cereal

The waitress told us that this one of the best seller dish, Braised Bean Curd with Salted Fish, but, this dish never impressed me. The texture of the bean curd is not cooked till very smooth that you will smell the fragrance of gravy mix well enough with the bean.
